Lust auf Genuss  (Desire for pleasure)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love this magazine. No other \nGerman cooking magazine inspires me so continuously with a wealth of \nideas, knowledge, reliable recipes and inspiration. I cannot remember \nwhen I discovered the first issue at the supermarket checkout, but since\n 2009 I buy it regularly and since last year it finally comes by \nsubscription.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lust auf Genuss <\/a>is\n a thematic magazine, published 13 times a year. The focus for me are \ndefinitely the recipes, nicely photographed and always with surprising \ncompositions and evident variations. Each issue focuses on a basic \ntheme, ranging from \u201a hot from the oven \u2013 enjoying bread completely new\u2018\n (issue 1\/ 2014) of \u201a apples and pears\u2018, \u201a Cooking with Friends \u201a to \u201a \ncheesecake sweet and savory \u201a . The recipes are clearly and well \nstructured, and what really stands out to me \u2013 they are extremely well \nrecorded and therefor easy to follow. The design suits the content, it \nis neither exciting nor fashionable but classic and clearly structured.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional elements of the mag are \nlittle reports, news about kitchen appliances and design, matching \nwines, travel tips and for example a series that I particularly like: \nNon-alcoholic cocktails by Roland Trettl. The star chef explains next to\n the (usually rather elaborate but always inspiring) preparation also \nwhich wine that drink can replace. Often interesting flavors such as fir\n needle essence, wheat grass or freshly juiced fennel play a role.<\/em>
\n Roland Trettl seems to have a cooperation with the magazine, as \nelsewhere in the magazine each of the new guest chefs at Restaurant Ikarus<\/a> of Hangar- 7 are being presented, where he has been the Executive Chef until just recently.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, the editors have finally\n discovered the Food Blogs. On four pages international food bloggers \nare being presented with recipes. I was particularly pleased to discover\n in the fall issue lovely Katharina K\u00fcllmer of ess.raum<\/a> that I have personally met in the year before and whose food skills I greatly admire.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite recipes are clearly \n\u201aalmond tart with rosemary pears\u2018, \u201a lentil salad with passion fruit \ndressing\u2018 and the \u201aKnusperbr\u00f6tchen\u2018 from the current issue (a recipe \nfrom Lutz Geissler, the maker of the \u201a Pl\u00f6tz blog \u201a) which have actually\n opened my eyes and ears for the world of baking (Thanks to Lutz!).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, there is also a small German online database of the \u201aLust auf Genuss\u2018 recipes<\/a> with background information as well as a Facebook<\/a> page. Individual back issues can be ordered here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion: for me \u201aLust auf<\/g> Genuss\u2018 at the moment (2014) is the greatest and most sustainable cooking magazine on the German market. I can\u00b4t wait for the next issue!<\/em><\/p>\n
